The Palm Springs City Council, the Bureau of Tourism, and the Palm Springs Modern Committee will celebrate the unveiling Oct. 8 of an upgraded tourism information kiosk at the Palm Springs Visitors Center highlighting the City’s famed mid-century modern architecture.

The 5 p.m. ceremony will be held at the Visitors Center, 2901 N. Palm Canyon Drive. Mayor Steve Pougnet and the Council will present a Certificate of Appreciation to the Palm Springs Modern Committee, who is responsible for the installation and upgraded design of the kiosk.

The kiosk has been in place at the Visitors Center for more than eight years and has been a popular resource for tourists interested in the City’s rich architectural heritage. The upgraded version features a variety of useful reference information as well as color photos of the City’s mid-century modern buildings, a video presentation of early Palm Springs history, nostalgic memorabilia, and ModCom’s popular self-guided tour map of the City’s mid-century modern architectural treasures.

“We are delighted with the new smart design of this upgraded kiosk,” said Mary Jo Ginther, Director of the Palm Springs Bureau of Tourism. “We’re extremely thankful to the Palm Springs Modern Committee for their substantial investment in our tourism efforts.”
