The Palm Springs Preservation Foundation will host a tour of the 1960 Clair Earl-designed “Maison L'Orange,” which fell into disrepair and was brought back to life by an 18-month H3K Home+Design makeover.

This 1960 home, nicknamed “Maison L'Orange,” underwent an 18-month long makeover by the talented professionals at H3K Home+Design. That effort turned the good bones of this Modernist residence into something special! A beautiful midcentury block wall beckons you inside to a bright and colorful interior design (replete with 50s and 60s vintage finds). The backyard and pool area carries the Palm Springs hip theme to the next level. See why the H3K Home+Design pros mantra is “design should be fun.”

Designed by Glendale architect Clair Philip Earl, AIA, “Maison L'Orange” is significant as one of his rare commissions in the desert. Earl was a partner in the firm of “Earl and Brock, AIA, Architects” who had offices in both Glendale and Van Nuys, California. He studied architecture through the USC extension program where he was steeped in the tenets of Modernism. Noteworthy Earl commissions include the Peter Drucker Residence (1963) in Claremont, and the Allan F. Daily Residence (1954) in Glendale. The Drucker Residence was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2017, and the Daily Residence was listed on the Glendale Register of Historic Resources in 2007.

The Palm Springs Preservation Foundation is a non-profit organization whose mission is “to educate and promote public awareness of the importance of preserving the historical resources and architecture of the city of Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley area.” PSPF offers free membership as a public benefit.
