This limited, private hard-hat preview tour offers a rare opportunity to experience College of the Desert’s new Palm Springs Campus while it is still taking shape. Conceived as a design and architecture experience rather than a conventional construction tour, the program will take guests inside the transformation of the former Palm Springs Mall site into a new center for learning, creativity and community life.

The tour will explore the architectural and planning ideas behind the campus, including its desert-responsive design, indoor/outdoor learning and gathering spaces, materials and landscape, the pedestrian-oriented Learning Loop, the Event Center and other public-facing spaces. Guests will also learn about the campus’s sustainability strategy, including its all-electric design and integration of solar energy.

Throughout the experience, the design team will highlight how the campus pays homage to Palm Springs’ Modernist legacy—not by recreating the past, but by interpreting the principles of desert Modernism for a contemporary educational environment. The result is a campus designed for the climate, connected to its surroundings and rooted in the architectural character of Palm Springs, while looking distinctly toward the future.
