Architecture Tours at XOXO Palm Springs
Enjoy the definitive Modern architecture tour. Modernism Week Architecture Tours offers a fascinating exploration of Palm Springs’ world-famous Midcentury Modern architecture.
Modernism Week invites you to a special, one-time only, summer tour of Frank Sinatra’s iconic “Twin Palms” estate, offering an intimate look at a home that helped define the glamour and architectural innovation of postwar Palm Springs. This is a rare chance to see inside this famous home that exudes the unforgettable swagger of Frank Sinatra and is typically only open during Modernism Week.
Designed in 1947 by acclaimed Modernist architect E. Stewart Williams, the residence introduced a new vision of desert living, blending clean modern lines with an effortless indoor-outdoor lifestyle. Located in Palm Springs’ Movie Colony East neighborhood, the home tour will include a self-guided walk through the private residence and grounds, including the historic swimming pool area.
Experienced volunteer docents will be available to provide information and historical background as you enjoy viewing this legendary 3,600 square foot home. Set against the dramatic backdrop of the San Jacinto Mountains and anchored by its grand piano-shaped pool, Twin Palms reflects both architectural significance and Sinatra’s unmistakable personal style.
With the support of the Palm Springs Preservation Foundation, the property was designated a Class 1 Historic Site by the city in 2011 and later listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2016. Today, it remains a remarkably intact and celebrated example of Midcentury Modern design enriched by cultural history.
Thank you to Palm Springs Preservation Foundation for participation and historical reference information.
