Step inside the ultimate 1969 cocktail party as The Gand Band recreates the music and atmosphere of Playboy After Dark, the late-night show that captured a remarkable moment in American culture. Set in a stylish cocktail-party atmosphere inspired by Hugh Hefner's famous Playboy Mansion gatherings, the TV show reflected an era when Modern design, sophisticated entertaining, fashion and music were all undergoing dramatic change.

Playboy had become far more than a magazine. Through its clubs, television program, and influential voice in popular culture, it promoted a vision of Modern living that embraced architecture, design, music and personal freedom. The iconic Playboy Clubs—with their glamorous Bunny hostesses, sophisticated interiors and celebrity clientele—became symbols of the era's aspirational lifestyle.

At the same time, the music world was experiencing its own revolution. Traditional supper-club performers and Las Vegas entertainers suddenly found themselves sharing the stage with rock bands, soul artists, folk singers and psychedelic musicians. On Playboy After Dark, legends from very different worlds came together in a fascinating collision of styles and generations.

The Gand Band recreates the energy of this unique cultural crossroads with live music and video on the big movie screen from the artists who appeared on the show. Featuring rock, soul, jazz, pop and rhythm & blues, this lively immersive performance celebrates a time when the worlds of midcentury sophistication and the counterculture briefly occupied the same room—and made television history.

A portion of the proceeds go to the Palm Springs Cultural Center.
