About John Lautner & Hotel Lautner:

A legendary apprentice of Frank Lloyd Wright, architect John Lautner (FAIA) is celebrated as one of the most visionary masters of midcentury design. Renowned for his dramatic concrete forms and seamless integration of architecture with the desert landscape, Lautner forever altered Modern design.

Originally commissioned in 1947 as four prototype homes for a master planned community, Hotel Lautner predates the incorporation of Desert Hot Springs itself. Built nearly 80 years ago—16 years before the city was officially incorporated in 1963—this architectural treasure stands today as one of the earliest and most significant examples of Desert Modernism in the valley.
