This book sale, presented by the Friends of the Palm Springs Library, will feature art, architecture, and design books representing various styles and authors from the Friends’ stock of donations, some autographed! The proceeds from this event will aid the Friends in their continued support of the Library. SPECIAL GUEST: Author David Willis signing his book, Julius Shulman Color, from 11 AM–1 PM on Saturday, Oct. 18 in the main room at the Welwood Murray Memorial Library, books will be for sale at the event and a portion of the proceeds to benefit the Friends of the Palm Springs Library

About the Book: The acknowledged titan of mid-twentieth century architectural photography, Julius Shulman is most often associated with his influential work in monochrome-black, white, and all shades of gray in between-a fact that has often overshadowed his mastery in lighting, composing, and producing spectacular color images. During a career that spanned eight decades, Shulman traveled throughout the continental US, Hawaii, Canada, Central and South America, and Asia, capturing in brilliantly deployed color important residential, commercial, and civic structures. Of the many exhibitions staged and books published, none have focused on Shulman's color photography-until now. Julius Shulman Color is the ultimate monograph of the photographer's work in analog color, realized through a wealth of never-before-seen or published photographs-most scanned (by the Getty Research Institute) from their original 4x5, 5x7, and 8x10 color transparencies-and presented here for the first time.
