Modernism Week comes to La Quinta! This first-ever, exclusive multi-home tour will offer rare access to the hidden midcentury Modern heritage behind the gates of The La Quinta Country Club.

The La Quinta Country Club has long been one of the Coachella Valley’s best-kept secrets–a lush oasis where elegance, Hollywood royalty, and world-class golf converge. Its championship course, designed by Lawrence M. Hughes, opened in 1959 with a star-studded inaugural round featuring Bing Crosby, Bob Hope, and other Hollywood legends. Just one year later, President Dwight D. Eisenhower (whose brother was a member) dedicated the club–setting the tone for decades of presidential and celebrity patronage to come.

Over the decades, the club became a favorite retreat for celebrities like Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Jackie Gleason, Clint Eastwood and sport greats such as Willie Mays, Jack Kramer and Joe Louis. It also played host to the prestigious Bob Hope Desert Classic, now known as The American Express, a tradition it proudly continues today.

The community features homes meticulously designed by celebrated desert Modernists including Laszlo Sandor, John Lautner, William F. Cody, Hugh Kaptur, Arthur Elrod, A. Quincy Jones, John Walling, Robert Ricciardi and Lance O’Donnell. Experience the rare intersection of architectural innovation and effortless desert luxury, as you tour select homes and gardens that reflect the bold vision and timeless aesthetics of Midcentury Modernism–nestled close to the majestic Santa Rosa Mountains for a stunning backdrop.

Tour Highlights:

  • Golf Cart transportation across the legendary, award-winning La Quinta Country Club golf course
  • Walking architectural tour showcasing landmark midcentury homes by iconic design legacies–located on one of the most prestigious streets in The La Quinta Country Club
  • Post-tour wine and hors d'oeuvres reception featuring a guest speaker and local historians who will offer stories of La Quinta’s rich architectural history, the evolution of the Country Club, and the celebrities and architects who helped shape its legacy
