Designed by Modernist architect Barry Alan Berkus and built in 1961, Merito Manor is a 10-unit single-story condominium complex tucked away on a secluded one-acre lot in the Old Las Palmas neighborhood, just a few blocks from downtown. Folded plate roofs and arched clerestory windows above decorative rock walls make a remarkable and rewarding example of midcentury Modern architecture. Floor-to-ceiling windows and sliding glass doors overlook large private patios. All units were originally 1426 square feet with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a den.

Tour thoughtfully restored and individually styled units, many with original features, all with Berkus's attention to detail. Tours are self-guided and self-paced; homeowners and docents will be on-site in each unit to answer your questions. In 2019, Merito Manor received Class 1 Historic District designation. Common area landscaping was recently converted to drought-tolerant xeriscape. Several units on this year's tour are open for the first time. Proceeds from this event will go towards a long-overdue carport project to replace three concrete pads with matching pavers.
